“सो जा उल्लू “ by Bhuri Bai. Published by Eklavya. A delightful book about an owl trying to sleep to no avail!
An owl was trying to sleep. But it was not sleeping time for many others in the forest. They were going about their daily routine. The poor owl was getting disturbed by each one of their sounds. He tried changing places several times.
Was he going to get sleep after all? What were the sounds that he heard? Read the charming book illustrated in Bhil style of painting by Padma Shri Bhuri Bai. The book has been influenced by the famous picture book called “Good-Night, Owl!” by Pat Hutchins.
My eight year old has enjoyed reading and looking at this book for the last two years. Now he is using it to practice reading in Hindi. Having read about Bhuri Bai’s story in “Dotted Lines”, we enjoyed looking at her work in this book. The book is available as a big book as well as normal size. We got the big one and loved learning the names of quite a few birds and other creatures in Hindi. The illustrations are stunning and a treat for the eyes. Thank you Vidya Mani of Funky Rainbow for recommending this lovely book!
