“Can You?” by Sheela Preuitt & Praba Ram and illustrated by Ashok Rajagopalan. Published by Tulika. A delightful book filled with interesting and fun facts about the various creatures.
Can you taste with your toes? Or hear with your legs? Or smell with your hair? At least see with your ears? Do you give up?! As absurd as all of these questions sound, there are some creatures who can actually do this. Intriguing, isn’t it?! Take a peek into their world to know more about how or why they do that.
The layout of the book is such that the question is asked at the top of the page on left and the illustration of the creature which can do is shown below. The corresponding page on the right has the answer and facts about the creature. The delightful questions are going to make the children wear their thinking caps and chuckle as they try to guess who could it be who can do that funny thing in an unbelievable way :) The illustrations are equally charming.
My 7.5 year old has enjoyed reading this book for almost two years now. He liked the guessing part and was eager to know what the answers were each time. We Thank you Vidya Mani of Funky Rainbow for recommending this lovely book! We have loved other books by the same authors such as “Thukpa For All” and “The Doll that Bommakka Made”.
