“Granny’s Sari” by Asha Nehemiah and illustrated by Subir Roy. Published by CBT. An endearing story of the bonding between a little girl and her grandmother.
The story is narrated by Anu. Her granny’s favourite saree was indeed a special one. It was like a story by itself. There was a picture of a forest printed on it. When granny wore her sari, it seemed like the forest was alive on it! One day, the sari had been hung on the clothesline for drying and the wind blew it away :(
Granny was naturally upset. Anu pitched in to help her find the saree. Off they set around looking for it. Do they find the saree? Where has it gone? Has anyone seen it? Who are the people they meet during the search? Will granny be happy again? Overall a simple and lovely story full of warmth and bonding between the little girl and her granny. It is one of those comfort books one can read anytime.
My seven year old has loved this story for the last few years. We first read it from his nursery school library when he was four. Was overjoyed to find it on Funky Rainbow and couldn’t resist buying it last year. The book is apt for anyone aged 4+.
Where to buy from?
