“Shrilok Homeless : The Ultimate Adventures Volume 2” by Pika Nani. Published by Penguin. A befitting sequel to the one of his kind Shrilok who is now on a case solving spree in Mumbai as well as places ranging from Delhi to London to Bandipur in Karnataka.
Shrilok is not just Mumbai’s favourite teen detective any longer. He is India’s favourite no less! His best friend Rohan Doctor continues to document his cases. In this book, he gets his biggest case for which he has to travel to London. A spy has been murdered and a girl from Mumbai stands accused. She did travel to London to meet the spy when she came to know that he had killed her father long ago. Could this have caused her to murder him? Well, it isn’t as straightforward as it seems. The mystery will have to be solved by Shrilok along with Rohan.
There are several other cases ranging from the sudden death of a young man who collapses after reading a message having a string of emojis in his phone, a statue of the dancing girl of Mohenjodaro disappearing from the National Museum in Delhi, nabbing an exam question paper leaking mastermind to solving the death of a forest range officer in Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. The cases are twice as challenging as before and the dangers doubled therefore. Mysterious murders, secret codes, new villains and old enemies! Shrilok can face all of these with Rohan at his side. But then what makes him point a gun at Rohan? Has he lost his mind? Is this how it will end? What is the mystery behind this final showdown? Read this fast paced and action packed book for a nail biting and thrilling finish which has subjected the desi Sherlock Holmes to his ultimate test.
My 8.5 year old and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thriller of a book. We just couldn’t resist racing through the pages but had to slow down as we didn’t want to finish it too quickly. A classic instance of reader’s dilemma. We were thrilled to follow Shrilok and Rohan on their adventurous trail and trying to guess the solutions to the mysteries. It kept us on the edge of our seats. The writing style was very witty and delightful as usual. It was interesting to know how Shrilok started solving mysteries through the story of his first case. We would recommend that readers do try and read the first book in the series, “The Adventures of Shrilok Homeless”, as that will help know the main characters and the background.
We have thoroughly enjoyed both the Shrilok series as well as “The Egghead Detective Agency” from Pika Nani in this genre. Hoping to see many more books in this genre from the author :) Thank you Vidya Mani of Funky Rainbow for recommending this lovely book and for Pika Nani being a part of your buzzaar!
