“The Poop Book” by Tejaswini Apte-Rahm and Sujatha Padmanabhan. Illustrated by Priya Kuriyan and published by Kalpavriksh. An interesting book about animal poop. We are all aware of how children are fascinated by poop and love talking about it. This book works well for introducing them to the world of animal poop and therefore build awareness of the animals themselves.
Many creatures have their own special way of pooping or using their poop for different purposes. Everything that one needs to know about poop is in there. Why do animals poop? What are the different names for poop? All this and much more. Meet creatures such as dung beetle, caterpillar, butterfly, honeybee, jellyfish, penguin, vulture, rhinoceros, lion, elephant and many others to know what they have to say about their poop. Isn’t this quite a wide spread!! The quirky illustrations complement the book well.
Accompanying the book is a bookmark made of guess what? Now that the book talks about poop, the bookmark has to be made of poop right. Elephant and Rhino poop mixed with banana fibre, jute and cotton rags and water hyacinth stalks made in Assam. The children will have a whale of a time checking out the book. My seven year old enjoyed reading it. Apt for 5+ year olds. Thank you Vidya Mani of Funky Rainbow for recommending this lovely book!
