“The Ramayana in Pictures” by Mala Dayal and illustrated by Jagdish Joshi. Published by Rupa publications. This is an old world style picture book which tells the story of the great epic of Ramayana. The brief text with large beautiful illustrations is a perfect way to introduce the Ramayana to little children. My seven year old read this last year and loved it. It was his first book on the Ramayana. Though he knew bits and pieces of the story through some of his other books or hearsay, this was the first time he got to know the complete story. This is a good introductory book to the Ramayana for children aged 5+. This can then be followed by more comprehensive or detailed books.
